When people hear the word hacker, they often think about the bad thing such as steal money from a bank, steal information from some companies or government… However, that is not true at all, there are 3 types of hackers.
_ BlackHat: this is really bad hacker. They break into a secure network or system to destroy data and make the network unusable. People who are authorized to those network can't have accesses. This type of hackers always join in a group and live in popular countries.
_ WhiteHat: they are considered "good hacker." "A white hat hacker breaks security for non-malicious reasons, perhaps to test their own security system or while working for a security company which makes security software. The term "white hat" in Internet slang refers to an ethical hacker." For example, iPhone unlocked is also considered hacking but its good for the phone users to use different providers.
_ GreyHat: this is the combination of BlackHat and WhiteHat. "A grey hat hacker may surf the internet and hack into a computer system for the sole purpose of notifying the administrator that their system has a security defect." For example, In June 2010, a group of computer experts known as Goatse Security exposed a flaw in at&t security which allowed the e-mail addresses of ipads users to be revealed.
Therefore, the term hacker can understand many different way. they are not totally bad for internet users, they can contribution something which is also good and benefit people

Hi Tho,
ReplyDeleteYour blog develops a broad knowledge of hacking. I am in the group of people who only think that hacker is an unethical person who gains benefit from stealing others’ information or achievement. From your blog, I learn that there are three types of hackers. Especially, I know that white Hats, the “good hackers”, use their skills to help company to perfect the security software which can help users to away from hacking.
By the way, your blog image is so good to fit your blog. It is amazing.
Hi Tho,
ReplyDeleteDid you know that there are many other definitions of hacker, even out side the realm of computer security. The group that you are referring to can be better referred to as "crackers." Some people use the word hacker to refer to programmers who come up with clever solutions or "hacks." Other people use the word hacker to refer to hard core hobbyists who "hack" together something quickly with fewer resources.

ReplyDeleteHi,Dang
ReplyDeleteYou get a really nice picture for this post, and it fits your topic very well - three guys with white, grey and black hat. Before reading your blog, I never know about these three kinds of your blog. It is interesting. Thanks for your sharing.
However, as Tim said, to computer science major students, hacker,in most time, means excellent programmers, instead of crackers.
By the way, could you please put your reference in your post. It will benefit your reader who want to know more about this topic.
Thanks for your post. I am looking forward to reading your future blogs.
Hi Tho,
ReplyDeleteYour blog post is very well-defined. It is interesting to read the differences between white-hat, grey-hat, and black-hat hackers. It is best to have white hackers who can gain security access without any harmful reasons. If there are any black hackers who did the wrongdoings into our computer system, our computers/laptops could be in danger. Did you know there is another group of hackers who can gain unauthorized access to personal accounts? That group is called “crackers.”
There are two recommendations into your post. One is to reread your blog post one-two times to edit any grammar and sentence structure errors. Like the first sentence, you could include the “-ing” in the following verbs. Another one is to include the references for your quoted sentences.
Other than that, good work on your post. Keep blogging!

ReplyDeleteHi Tho,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. You classified hackers as three types, and it is informative. By classifying, it is easily to understand why not all the hackers are bad.
I totally agree with your conclusion, but it has a little mistake with grammar. It is better to change to “Therefore, the term hacker can understand many different ways. They are not totally bad for internet users, they can contribution something which is also good and benefit people”.
Overall, you did a good job! I am looking forward to read your following blogs.
Hi Tho,
ReplyDeleteI am glad to read your blog today because I personally learned the key terms you described. The good descriptions you provided helped me understand them a lot better especially since you included examples for each one. The only thing that was missing in your blog was a little personalization. Maybe add some things that you have hacked or would like to hack. Other than that, great job on your blog and keep up the good work!
Hi Tho! You did a good job in talking about different types of hackers. I agree that there exists good hackers and bad hackers in this world. Also, I really liked the image you used for this blog post. It suits to what you are talking about hackers. However, I think your description on different types of hackers is very brief. It would have been much better, if you had added more information to it. Overall, I think it is nice post on hackers.
ReplyDeleteHello Tho,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your post about Hacking. I especially liked that you pointed out and defined all the different types of hackers. I was familiar with the black hat hackers, who like to access unauthorized information or destroy data. I had also heard of white hat hackers, such as Anonymous. I was not aware of the grey hat hacker term, though. They don’t seem much different from what a white hat hacker would be. A bit more description there would clarify things up nicely.
