LinkedIn is a great tool to advertise you

LinkedIn is a social networking website for people in professional occupations. It is founded in December 2002 and launched on May 5, 2003. The main purpose of this website is to help people network professionally and stay updated. All the services on this website are free so it’s a great tool to use.

LinkedIn can let you find other companies, business associates, clients, organizations and colleagues whom you already know. You can connect with these associates through this website and then they will become part of your network. Once you connected with these people, you later can get accesses to their list of connections which also give you an opportunity to connect other people.

Also, Linked in provides other features such as setup, join in groups,  search for jobs available which other people advertise the open positions and you can apply for it right on their network. It’s also a great tool for job seeking.

Moreover, LinkedIn can help you network with others and professional organization in your industry. This helps you stay updated with industry trends and you can share information with others who do things similar to you. Once you in a network, you can create or join a specific group to discuss about ideas and share industry or your products news. Therefore, this is a great tool to build and advertise your products in a professional way.

I heard about LinkedIn from a friend of mine long time ago, but I haven’t gotten a chance to use it because all of my friends are using Facebook and I’m also a new to this industry world. Since the impressive introduction to LinkedIn from my professor in cs100w, I know that I have to have a LinkedIn account for my future careers.

  1. Hi Tho,

    Good post.

I hope that as our course continues, that we learn better ways of promoting ourselves by using sites like LinkedIn to attract potential employers into interviewing us. And that way we will have plenty of opportunities to get internships while we are still in school to practice our skills. And hopefully after one or two internships we will be getting real job offers to put our skills into creating something that people will find useful.

  2. Nice post and nice picture. Your introduction of the LinkedIn features helps readers to understand the LinkedIn’s competitive advantages. As you mentioned, usually, most of us like to use Facebook or Twitter to connect with our friends or classmates, but LinkedIn has his advantages on professional side. One of my friends who work in Cisco told me that she got some calls from other companies because the companies read her LinkedIn information. LinkedIn does do his work on professional way. I have same situation as you. I am new on LinkedIn, but I hope that LinkedIn can help you and I find a nice job.
Your post has some issues on grammar. My commendation is that go through it before you post.

  3. Hi Tho
I enjoyed reading your blog; it is very interested for what people should know about LinkedIn, especially for student like us. I can see that LinkedIn has the potential to be extremely helpful and people are outraged that LinkedIn is opening the doors to us to choose a career and begin a resume. Having a LinkedIn profile as what you pointed out is always a good way to boost professional credentials.
Aside from job searching, endorsing colleagues, joining interactive groups and contributing to posts, the professional social networking site has evolved into much more. LinkedIn has become a term that many well-seasoned professionals use while networking.
We can hope that we can take advantage of this to pursue college ambitions and not get too ahead of ourselves.

  5. Hello Tho. Good organized writing skills. I agree with your talk. I didn't have LinkedIn account before. Since I have known about LinkedIn, I figured it out how powerful it is. There are good functions to update our all career easily. It was not easy to update my career in real time before, but through LinkedIn we can access it and update and organized our own experience quickly so that we don’t need to collect and remember for a long time to write resume or prepare the interview. It's definitely good program for us.
